God knows exactly what is necessary for us to keep our bodies healthy and operating at peak efficiency. The Bible says that after God created Adam and Eve He gave them some work to do. Some useful activity and exercise. God wants us to take good care of our bodies so we can enjoy life at its best here and now. He wants us to be responsible, moral, joyous people. He wants us to have an abundant life, life in all its fullness. But how long we live and how healthfully depends much on how we follow His instructions. He wants us to be temperate not only in what we eat and drink, but in the way we live.
As we study the history of Planet Earth in relation to the rest of God’s creation, we find that this Earth is the prodigal world in the universe, the one world where the plague of sin has spread its ugly disease for 6,000 years. God has promised that one day soon this Earth will be the center, or the capital, of God’s universe! God promises that there will be special times of worship and communion with our Creator, Redeemer and King. What an exciting time that will be, getting together to sing praises and rejoice in the city each Sabbath! The New Earth will be a happy place.
As stewards of God we are responsible for the goods He gives us, such as: life, time, abilities, and possessions. Do you sometimes wonder if “thank you” is enough? That is where stewardship comes in. It is a tangible way of expressing our appreciation to God for all His benefits. The Lord says that the tenth of everything is holy unto Him. The tithe is not a gift to God, for it belongs to Him. He just gives us the privilege of returning it to Him, to test our stewardship, to see if we will honor and acknowledge His ownership.
Today, we see a great interest in various forms of religion. New churches are rapidly springing up across the country. Some of the religious groups are drawing large numbers of young adherents to their cause. Preachers from churches, TV and radio programs claim to be teaching the one true faith. Well, according to Scripture, Jesus never intended that there be any confusion, and certainly so many denominations. Just before His crucifixion Jesus prayed: That they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. John 17:21.
The war that begun in Heaven will end on Earth after Satan’s forced vacation—a vacation lasting 1,000 years. This time-period is often referred to as the “Millennium,” which comes from two Latin words, “milli” and “annum” simply meaning a thousand years. But you say, “When will the millennium, or Satan’s vacation, begin?” Can we know? Indeed we can! Let’s take a look at the events surrounding Christ’s second coming.
Today we shall study the seven last plagues and the battle of Armageddon. An understanding of the order of events preceding Christ’s coming is vital. It is only when we know the time that we can cooperate with Jesus in preparing for His soon return. Although the Bible teaches that Jesus is coming very soon, there are events that will take place before He comes. It is important that we know what is going to take place in order to prepare for Earth’s last hour.
There is an explosion of interest in the supernatural. Spiritism, occultism, Satanism, and witchcraft. Go to any large bookstore and you will find up to 200 such titles. Where does a man go when he dies? Heaven? Hell? Purgatory? Oblivion? Isn’t that the most important question to be answered about death? Let us turn to our only dependable source of information for the answer. The Bible’s teaching on death is consistent, not confusing. This Sermon is about that there may be some surprises, but its answers are both reasonable and satisfying and best of all, comforting!
Many Christians unwittingly attend church, give offerings, follow the Golden Rule, thinking they earn favor with God and receive eternal life. Is that possible? Can man, through some means of physical punishment, mental anguish, or deeds of kindness, bribe God to grant him forgiveness and eternal life? Do we earn salvation, or win it as one does the Olympic Gold Medal? Working hard, sacrificing, straining every spiritual muscle to the breaking point? You cannot save yourself by your own works; you must depend on God’s grace, God’s love and favor, which are free. If you could earn salvation it would not be a gift!
There is not a shrine in the world that can boast one part of the body of Christ. The Roman seal could not hold Him in the tomb. Mountains of rocks would not have held Him. The difference between Christianity and every other religion is an empty tomb! Only Christians claim the resurrection of their founder. And friend, a religion that does not have an empty tomb and a coming King is not enough. It does not meet man’s needs. For you see, if there is no empty tomb or coming King the inhabitants on Planet Earth are doomed to a meaningless oblivion.
The most solemn and awful warning ever given to Earth’s inhabitants is recorded in the Book of Revelation. God is saying we need to listen to this most urgent message. It’s crucial to our survival. Every person should carefully study this prophecy and make certain he has nothing to do with the beast or its mark. Great blessings are promised to those who are loyal to God, who receive His Seal. While the most terrifying warning in the Bible is given to those who receive the Mark of the Beast.
